David Witherspoon is artist that lives and works in Dallas Texas. In 2013 he completed a MFA Degree in The Arts and Technology (ATEC) program at University of Texas at Dallas. His art uses high-speed video, time-lapse photography, sculpture, encaustic and oil painting. He has a background in the healthcare industry that provides a filter through which his work is mediated.
His art explores the influence of western society on the psyche of the individual. It investigates themes of societal disconnect in an aesthetic seated in modernity. It has its foundations in the culture and economics of consumption and consumerism. It is a study of subconscious reactions of the Being in the context of the disconnect between the global industrial complex, society and selfhood.
